What facilities tell you before you call

How the census works →

Ratings are a commodity. What no aggregator holds is what a facility publishes: what it costs, what shots your dog needs, whether anyone is in the building at 3am. We read every indexed facility’s own website in 21 metros and recorded each answer in the operator’s words — and each silence as a finding.

How the score works

Full methodology →
01 · Collect

Public records only

We pull each facility’s rating, review count, services, and hours from public Google Business data — the same profile you’d find yourself, gathered in one place.

02 · Adjust

Small samples get skepticism

A perfect 5.0 from 6 reviews is a guess; a 4.8 from 900 is a track record. The score pulls low-volume ratings toward the market average until the sample earns trust.

03 · Disclose

Their words, not ours

Every policy and rate on a facility page is quoted from the facility’s own website with a link to the page. We report what is published; we do not grade it.

Frequently asked questions

How is DogDnB different from Yelp or Rover?
Rover is a marketplace for home-based sitters; Yelp covers every business category at once. DogDnB (dog daycare 'n' boarding) is a dedicated facility index — boarding kennels, daycares, and vets that board — ranked by a published formula over public review data, with rates and policies gathered directly from facility websites and quoted in the operator's own words.
What is the disclosure census?
For 21 metros so far, we read every indexed facility's own website for the policies owners ask about — vaccines required, whether a person is on site overnight, staff-to-dog ratio, play model, cameras, rates — and record what each one states, with the sentence and the page. Where a website says nothing, we record that too: 225 of 1217 websites read state whether anyone is on site overnight. Cities join the census as their curation is finished.
Where does the data come from?
Listing details and ratings come from public Google Business profiles, re-scraped live for each refresh (last: July 2026). Rates and policies come from each facility's own website and are only shown with a verbatim quote and source link (census: September 2026). Every listing links to its live Google Maps profile for verification.
What is the DogDnB Score?
A 0–10 score computed from a facility’s Google rating, adjusted for how many reviews it has. A 5.0 from 6 reviews scores lower than a 4.8 from 900, because small samples are less reliable. The exact formula is published on our methodology page.
How much does dog boarding cost?
Across the 557 facilities in our index that publish rates, metro medians run from $46/night (Orlando) to $100/night (New York). Each city page states its median and the number of published rates behind it. See the cost guide for how to read a rate card.
